BUT GOD...!Saturday, November 23, 2013 | 10:58 PM | 0 comments
So Sundays are probably not going to be 'rest days' much longer, (hopefully Sunway won't change anything*prays*) but today is indeed one of reflection and contemplation, especially for me.
What a powerful sermon we had today by Pastor(Dr) Philip Lyn, indeed one that was God-sent.
Preaching on the importance of switching our language from 'But Suppose..' to God's language; But GOD.
It made me come home and reflect back on the things that have happened in 2013, and the many significant moments that God prevailed Himself time to time again.
As I think back, I realise that many a time God's blessings come from problems or daily challenges that we think ought not to happen. But once we have overcome them, we look back and think ' If not for that, we may not be here today..' This is indeed true in my life.
Throughout high school, and even in college now. The transition from an all-girl environment to a co-ed one was quite an experience. Meeting all sorts of people from all different backgrounds, cultures, you can never expect any two people to be alike. Even in college, there can be peer problems. I have had my sense of inferiority once in a while, and now when I look back, if not for those times, I would not have met the friends I have today. If I had not remained in Sunway, given the chance to leave, I would not have made friendships which I intend to keep for a lifetime, with both lecturers and fellow peers alike. Of course I face the things any college student would, whether its those periods of 'drama' or 'intimidated-ness'. Who doesn't face those things? People's judgement? Of course. But God pulled me through all of it, giving me little pockets of 'surprises' that I didn't think would happen.A close friend who I've been wanting to talk to suddenly sends me a message on Facebook, people in college who I have wanted to get to know become my good friend, and even people who I hardly noticed in Semester 1, suddenly stand out in my life in Semester 2. Now and then as I think about all this, there is no way that I would have contemplated any of it at all.
Same goes for seeing my friends as they grow up, getting more mature both physically and mentally, going through things that you just wanna go and give them a hug.
Indeed we need to learn how to 'fly up higher' and look at the big picture. What may seem like a 'very big problem' to us, may be a very minor problem in the whole big picture. The question is that are we willing to step out and have faith that God will always bring us through?
I know God has been merciful to me countless times, and I can honestly admit sometimes I don't even thank Him. But I know now that in all things, we can always count on God and of course, not forget to glorify Him in all that we do. I definitely don't deserve any of the blessing that I have, but I will be grateful for any that the Lord is willing to give to me.
PS: SPM,STPM, and ALE students, let's give it our all. This time next week, it will ALL BE OVER.
*except IELTS, but that's something else*
God bless and have a great week ahead:)
